Terms of Service

Short version: Use Taskly honestly, don't post harmful content, and don't misuse the platform. You own your content. You can delete your account at any time, with data removal handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

1. Acceptance of terms

By downloading or using Taskly, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app. These terms apply to all users of Taskly.

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States.

2. Description of service

Taskly is a task management application that allows connected users to create, assign, and track household tasks, including optional photo proof of completion. The app is provided by Lauterstar and is available on iOS.

3. Accounts and eligibility

To use Taskly, you must:

Be at least 13 years of age
Have a valid Apple ID and iCloud account
Sign in using Sign in with Apple

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us at support@lauterstar.com.

4. User content

Taskly allows you to create and share content including task descriptions, notes, photos, display names, and location information ("User Content").

You own your content. You retain all rights to the User Content you create.

License to us. By posting User Content, you grant Lauterstar a limited, non-exclusive license to store and display that content to you and the other Taskly users you are connected with, solely for the purpose of providing the service. We do not use your content for any other purpose.

Responsibility. You are solely responsible for the User Content you submit. You confirm that you have the right to share any content you post and that it does not violate any law or third-party rights.

5. Content guidelines

You agree not to post User Content that:

Is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, abusive, threatening, or fraudulent
Contains nudity, sexually explicit material, or graphic violence
Contains hate speech or discriminates based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin
Infringes the intellectual property or privacy rights of others
Contains malware, spam, or deceptive content

6. Content moderation

We automatically screen usernames, display names, and completion photos using OpenAI's content moderation API (routed through a Firebase Cloud Function). Content that is flagged as inappropriate will be blocked. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms and to suspend or terminate accounts responsible for repeated violations.

If you believe content has been incorrectly flagged or you want to report abusive content from another user, please contact us at support@lauterstar.com.

7. Connections and assignments

Taskly allows you to connect with other users and grant or receive task assignment permissions. You control who you connect with and can disconnect from any user at any time from within the app. You are not required to accept any connection request.

8. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to another user's account or data
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of Taskly
Use the service to send unsolicited communications or spam
Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service

9. Termination

By you: You may stop using Taskly and delete your account at any time via Settings → Delete Account. Data is removed as described in our Privacy Policy, including CloudKit ownership-based limitations.

By us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Taskly at our discretion, including for violations of these terms, without prior notice. If your account is terminated for a violation, you may not create a new account without our permission.

10. Availability and changes to the service

We strive to keep Taskly available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the service at any time, with or without notice.

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Taskly after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

Taskly is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Lauterstar disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, secure, or continuously available. Your use of the service is at your own risk.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Lauterstar and its affiliates, officers, and employees shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of Taskly, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app, if any.
